Database Intern


Job Summary:

The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) is a non-partisan American public policy and grant-making institution dedicated to promoting better understanding and cooperation between North America and Europe on transatlantic and global issues.

The Intern will maintain the CRM and other database systems that serve GMF’s seven international offices.  This internship is unpaid and offers an ideal opportunity to acquire substantive professional and organizational experience in all areas of Information Technology and will work closely with many departments of GMF.  Our office is Metro-accessible, just blocks from Dupont Circle.  GMF offers a stimulating, supportive work environment.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Maintain contact information in a CRM database;
  • Maintain database integrity (duplicate checking, style guide consistency, data change management tickets);
  • Assist with online database sign-ups;
  • Assist staff with database projects (e.g. help staff with large contact updates, add contacts for events and newsletters);
  • Assist staff in creation of online e-mail broadcasts;
  • Oversee and maintain events management updates; and
  • Act as database training point of contact for new interns to include setting up accounts, printing manuals and grading tests.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:   

  • Must have database system experience, specifically with CRM database.
  • Computer savvy.
  • Bachelor degree.
  • Knowledge of Dreamweaver and Interaction or Raiser’s Edge databases preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking skills; and must be creative, organized, committed and responsible.  
  • Be comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who can work for full academic year.
