Job Summary

The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) is a non-partisan American public policy and grant-making institution dedicated to promoting better understanding and cooperation between North America and Europe on transatlantic and global issues.

The Development & Partnerships department seeks an energetic, detail-oriented, creative individual to be part of the team.  At GMF, the Development & Partnership office is responsible for fundraising from outside sources (Foundations, Corporations, Governments, and Individuals) for GMF core programming.

Key Areas of Responsibility 

  • Conducting in-depth prospect research;
  • Assisting in drafting grant correspondence;
  • Assisting in compiling briefing materials for team and senior leadership;
  • Maintaining the database and filing systems;
  • Managing production and implementation of in-house mailing projects;
  • Assisting in meeting planning and implementation;
  • Providing administrative/clerical support to the Development and  Partnerships department; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

  

Qualifications and Requirements 

  • Candidate pursuing a degree in Political Science, International Relations, Communications, Marketing, English, or other relevant fields.
  • Have an interest in development and fundraising.
  • Excellent organizational skills combined with the ability to work well under deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of small team.
  • Fluency in English required. 

 

Start and Length of Internship 

Preferred starting date: June 2012

Preferred time commitment: At least 20 hours a week between 9 AM to 5 PM
