Program Assistant, Policy Programs (Washington, DC)

The Washington, DC, headquarters of the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) is currently accepting applications for the Program Assistant supporting the Sr. Director, Policy Programs. This position will also provide remote program support to GMF's Transatlantic Trends, an annual public opinion survey which seeks to gauge the public perception of the transatlantic relationship on a variety of foreign policy and economic issues in the United States and Europe. Transatlantic Trends is published annually out of GMF's Paris office. Major responsibilities for this position include providing logistical, scheduling, event coordination, and publication research assistance to the Sr. Director, Policy Programs on a wide range of diverse, on-going transatlantic issues affecting the US-Europe public policy agenda. This position will also provide logistical support and assist in data gathering and analysis for the annual publication of GMF's Transatlantic Trends Report. Qualified applicants should have a B.A. in international relations with concentrated course work in European studies and/or transatlantic relations. One to two years of experience as a program or staff assistant with similar responsibilities is preferred but not required. Proficiency in one or more European language is highly desirable. Strong word-processing skills (MS Office); conference/meeting planning experience and editing and proofreading skills are essential. Working knowledge of SPSS or other statistics software are desirable. Position requires initiative and the ability to prioritize. Individual must be highly organized with superb attention to detail. Applicant must be able to work independently on complex projects and balance competing priorities in a very fast-paced environment with discretion, poise, and maturity.
