A Look ahead to the U.S. elections: the View from Paris March 13, 2012 / Paris
On March 13, 2012, the Paris office hosted a roundtable with James Barnes, consultant for CNN and journalist for the National Journal, in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Paris, to discuss the American presidential elections. This intimate event featured pecialists of U.S. domestic and foreign policy issues, Prof. Pierre Melandri, Dr. Frederick Douzet and Daniel Vernet. James Barnes gave a very lively presentation of the state of the Republican primaries, and the discussion then focused on Barack Obama’s chances of a successful reelection bid, the anti-European bias that is sometimes perceived from a European perspective, the short-term future of Syria and the role of the U.S. in the crisis, and the possibility of a divided government.
