Atlantic Forum in Morocco June 17, 2011 / Rabat, Morocco
On June 17-19, 2011, GMF, in partnership with Morocco’s OCP Foundation, held the first Atlantic Forum in Morocco. The forum was organized around the theme of Rethinking the Atlantic Agenda, and brought together some 70 participants from 20 countries to explore emerging policy issues in the Atlantic basin. The debate emphasized issues affecting West Africa, Latin America and the “southern” dimension of transatlantic relations.
Atlantic Forum sessions included in-depth conversations with leading policymakers and observers on Atlantic basin energy security, the rise of Brazil, food security and Morocco’s new geopolitics in Atlantic context. The principal venue for the Forum was Dar Mrini, an historic building located in Rabat’s medina, and made available by the City of Rabat.
The Forum is designed as an annual event, and is part of a multi-year program of convening and analysis spanning Mediterranean and wider Atlantic issues undertaken in partnership with the OCP Foundation.
