France: What is next for the Obama Presidency? April 03, 2012 / Paris

On April 3, 2012, the Paris office, in partnership with the Center for International Research and Studies (CERI) – Sciences Po, organized  a event titled “The Obama Presidency : What is Next?”. This event accompanied the recent publication of a book entitled Le bilan Obama (Presses de Sciences Po) in which GMF's Alexandra de Hoop Scheffer wrote the first chapter on foreign policy. The speakers at the conference were Frédérick Douzet, associate professor at Paris-8; Jean-Baptiste Velut, associate professor at Université de Marne-le-Vallée; Vincent Michelot, professor at Sciences Po Lyon; and GMF's de Hoop Scheffer. The debate was moderated by Denis Lacorne, director of research at the CERI. Experts, academics and journalists were present at the conference, which was followed by a very lively debate on the issues of democracy promotion, the future of American power and the eventuality of divided government.
