GMF President and Vice President awarded l’Ordre de la Couronne by Belgium April 15, 2010 / Washington, DC



On April 15, Belgian Ambassador to the United States Jan Matthysen awarded GMF President Craig Kennedy the Commandeur de l'Ordre de la Couronne and GMF Vice President Karen Donfried the Officier de l'Ordre de la Couronne. The Ambassador thanked Kennedy and Donfried for the work GMF has done and continues to do in Belgium, with particular attention to GMF's annual Brussels Forum, held for the past five years in Brussels. The ceremony took place at the Ambassador's residence in Washington, DC, and was attended by Congressman Ron Kind (D-WI), GMF Board Co-Chairman Marc Leland, Board Members Suzanne Woolsey, Leah Zell Wanger, and Marc Grossman, among others. l'Ordre de la Couronne was established in 1897 and is awarded by royal decree for meritorious public service to the Belgian state, and distinguished artistic, literary, and scientific achievements.
