GMF workshops on active transportation highlight European lessons for US regions September 27, 2009 / Oakland, California & Portland, Oregon
The German Marshall Fund (GMF), in collaboration with a number of local partners, organized a series of workshops from September 27 to October 3, focused on advancing “active” (non-motorized) transportation policy and investment in the Oakland, California and Portland, Oregon metropolitan areas. The workshops, which were organized through GMF’s Transatlantic Cities Network, brought five European transportation experts to the United States to share their experiences promoting cycling, pedestrian, and other non-motorized transportation policies and infrastructure investments with local practitioners, advocates, policymakers and interested citizens.
