On April 12 and 13, GMF and Sweden’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs hosted the sixth India Trilateral Forum, an ongoing dialogue between European, American, and Indian policymakers and commentators. Indian Minister for Corporate Affairs Sachin Pilot delivered a keynote address on India’s economic performance, and GMF President Craig Kennedy, Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt, and U.S. Ambassador to Sweden Mark Brzezinski provided welcome remarks. Participants at the Forum included senior officials from the governments of the United States, India, Sweden, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, as well as from the European External Action Service and NATO; experts from over a dozen think tanks and universities in India, Europe, and North America; and several journalists and business representatives. Discussions focused on India’s forthcoming general elections and economic growth prospects, the implications for India of the euro crisis, Afghanistan’s transition in 2014, India’s involvement in East Asia, nuclear security and stability, and changing energy patterns.
