In his introduction, Vejvoda emphasized the importance of sustained cooperation between the United States and the Balkans and noted that the EU and United States' past support has been integral to the area's continuing stabilization and democratization.  He went on to discuss the importance of EU integration, NATO enlargement, and recent developments in regional cooperation between Balkan countries.  He concluded his presentation by outlining some of the remaining challenges to the area and reemphasized the need for a strong transatlantic partnership for future success.
