President Obama will visit South Korea on November 11-12 on a post-election Asian tour that will also take him to Japan, India, and Indonesia. The short stopover here has both strategic and trade implications for the White House. This will be the president’s second trip to South Korea, America’s best friend in Asia. Given the volatile North Korean situation, Seoul is also Washington’s most important ally in the region. Obama and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak have established a personal chemistry that the U.S. president has found elusive with many other world leaders.
