Marshall Memorial Fellowship alumni reception held in Brussels February 01, 2011 / Brussels, Belgium

On February 1, 2011, the German Marshall Fund's Brussels office hosted a reception for local alumni of the Marshall Memorial Fellowship (MMF) program. Attendees learned about the latest developments at GMF Brussels and connected with new and old members of the network as well as staff of GMF's economics, communications, and foreign policy departments. The 15 MMF alumni attendees represented several generations of the program, ranging from the class of 1984 to the class of 2011.

Brussels is a key city for the Marshall Memorial Fellowship program.  Since the program was expanded to include American participants in 1999, all American Marshall Memorial Fellows have traveled to Brussels to learn about the EU institutions and NATO. As an international city, Brussels has long been the home of MMF alumni from different European countries, many of whom work in the European Council, European Commission, and European Parliament. Belgian citizens became eligible for the MMF program in 2010.
