Resource Curse Redux: Linking Food and Water Stress with Global Resource Supply Vulnerabilities June 04, 2012 / Raimund Bleischwitz, Michael G. Dozler, Corey Johnson
This paper explains the basis for the more skeptical outlook of the Transatlantic Academy’s report on the resource nexus. Primarily, it adds the environmental change dimension to the resource curse debate and argues that the governance challenges of the global resource nexus are enormous. In addition, this report provides a preliminary map of the global resource supply vulnerabilities from at-risk countries. Based on the available data, the paper identifies 15 countries that are most at risk for resource supply disruptions. Furthermore, it identifies 30 additional countries that, given more extreme circumstances, may also be at risk and have an impact on global resource supplies.
