Transatlantic Cities Network Annual Meeting 2012 October 03, 2012 / Birmingham, UK

This year’s Transatlantic Cities Network annual meeting took place in Birmingham, UK from September 30-October 3. In total, 16 delegates from the United States and Europe attended the meeting.  As part of the annual meeting agenda, the urban program hosted sessions with Birmingham City Council members and representatives from the city’s nonprofit and academic communities. The delegation in Birmingham toured several active construction sites, a science park, and neighborhood planning areas outside the city center. Topics covered during the meetings included the localization and decentralization agenda in the UK, public investment and center city revitalization, neighborhood planning, and social impact bonds.
