Transatlantic Inclusion Leaders Convene March 14, 2013 / Brussels, Belgium

til535

25 young, minority elected political leaders from the United States and 15 European countries are convening March 14-15 in advance of the Brussels Forum for political skills training and to build the Transatlantic Inclusion Leaders Network (TILN), a pillar of the German Marshall Fund’s Leadership, Diversity and Inclusion Initiative.  The young leaders are also participating in the Young Professionals Summit of Brussels Forum, and visiting with parliamentarians and diversity and inclusion experts at the European Parliament.

In a world that is increasingly connected, multi-ethnic and diverse, the success of societies on both sides of the Atlantic will depend on leadership that is global in outlook, representative, cultural competent and inclusive.  To successfully develop this new generation of leaders, we must accelerate the exchange of diversity and inclusion best practices across the Atlantic and across sectors.  This is the principle that drives GMF’s Leadership, Diversity and Inclusion Initiative.  As rising young political leaders, the TILN participants will be at the forefront of this positive change.

Partners in building TILN include: the German Marshall Fund, the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Helsinki Commission, IMPACT, Open Society Foundations, and the Balkan Trust for Democracy.
