~The Asmus Policy Entrepreneurs Fellowship will support two emerging policy entrepreneurs from the U.S. and/or Europe to implement a proposed project addressing an issue of transatlantic importance ~
WASHINGTON (November 29, 2011) — The German Marshall Fund of the United States announces the launch of the Asmus Policy Entrepreneurs Fellowship. Applicants must be American or European citizens under the age of 40. Entries must include a brief proposal of a project that they believe will address an important foreign or economic policy issue and will advance transatlantic cooperation. The fellowship is in honor of Ronald D. Asmus, GMF Brussels office executive director and director of strategic planning, who dedicated his life to the principles of freedom and passed away on April 30, 2011.
The Asmus Policy Entrepreneurs Fellowship will be launched at the annual Brussels Forum (March 23 – 25, 2012) with an announcement of the recipients. Over the course of the year, Asmus Fellows will utilize existing GMF activities and networks to advance their policy questions and to frame policy alternatives before summarizing their results by the year’s end. The Fellows will also be invited to attend three to four key GMF programs, and may be invited to present on a topic and/or participate in or facilitate dialogues at some of these events. GMF will allocate up to $25,000 per fellow for fellowship-related expenses.
Applicants must submit a letter of intent not to exceed two pages. The letter of intent should articulate the candidate’s policy project, proposed scope of work, its demonstration of creativity and innovations, and proposed implementation. Submission must also include two letters of recommendation supporting the candidate and the proposed project.
All applications must be received by February 10th, 2012.

The contest is administered by the German Marshall Fund of the United States, a non-partisan American public policy and grantmaking institution dedicated to promoting better understanding and cooperation between North America and Europe on transatlantic and global issues.
