Ian Lesser, senior director for foreign and security policy at GMF, sat down with Ambassador Benny Dagan, deputy director general and head of the Center for Policy Research of Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss strategic developments in the Levant. Ambassador Dagan commented on the uncertainties Israel faces due to new developments, including the rise of extreme non-state organizations, such as the Islamic State Group, and the possibility of a nuclear Iran. He also commented on the durability of U.S. engagement in the region, concluding that Israel’s ties with the U.S. will remain strong in the future, thanks to shared interests.
