Photo Essay: 25 years after the Chernobyl catastrophe
KIEV -- Political leaders and experts from across the globe gathered in Kiev from April 19-22, to attend the Kiev Summit on Safe and Innovative Use of Nuclear Energy. The summit, held only a few weeks after the Fukushima nuclear accident, also served to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the largest civilian nuclear disaster in history at the Chernobyl power plant on April 4, 1986. Senior Transatlantic Fellow Pavol Demes visited the Chernobyl site and contributed this photo essay for the Transatlantic Take series.
