Hosted by the German Marshall Fund of the United States in cooperation with the Government of Canada, the conference for the second year attracted the foremost security policymakers, defense and military representatives, and analysts from North America, Europe, and Asia for in-depth intellectual exchange on security and defense challenges.
More than 250 guests from 44 countries participated in the three-day event's plenary sessions and off-record gatherings. Themes that threaded together the on-record panels included a vigorous discussion on the United States' intentions toward Iran, and how the latter's nuclear aspirations should be dealt with; NATO's continued role in Afghanistan; and the nexus between local and international forces in managing security.
