WEASA 2014- Call for Applications
The College of Europe, Natolin Campus with the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) and the Polish American Freedom Foundation are pleased to launch a call for participants for the second edition of the Warsaw Euro-Atlantic Summer Academy (WEASA). The main objectives of the academy are presenting the political, social and economic foundations of modern democracies in the European Union and the transatlantic community and promoting them in the Eastern European countries.
WEASA goes in line with the Eastern Partnership (EaP) initiative that aims to accelerate political association, deepen economic integration, enhance mobility of citizens, and strengthen sector cooperation between the European Union and the Eastern European partner countries. It also supports the shared commitment to stability, security, and prosperity of the parties concerned as well as promotes the good-neighborly relations at the inter-state, regional, and world-wide levels.
The WEASA 2014 edition intends to throw light on various aspects of mobility perceived from the state, regional, and global perspectives.
We encourage emerging policy analysts, experts, advisors, civil servants, private sector/NGO professionals, and journalists from the Eastern Partnership region (i.e. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine), dealing with European integration, state transformation processes and/or transatlantic cooperation to participate in the next WEASA edition.
Priority will be given to the candidates in their mid-career, i.e. having at least 5-years of experience within a field of the WEASA mandate.
The WEASA program will be led by prominent academics and analysts from leading European and American think tanks as well as the high-level officials, and practitioners.
Travel, accommodation, and educational costs will be covered by WEASA.
The second edition of the WEASA is scheduled for July 6-19, 2014.
