Trade and Poverty Reduction Survey

Research Initiatives Printer-Friendly Version

At the heart of the Trade & Development program are activities that draw upon GMF’s unique position as a nonpartisan, transatlantic public policy institution with access to opinion leaders and policymaking processes in the United States and Europe.

Targeted policy research aims to fill gaps in information and understanding in order to promote trade, aid, and agricultural policies that are coherent, coordinated, and more effective.  Analysis is generated in-house by GMF staff and fellows and through grants given to outside partners and organizations.

Current research partners include the Groupe d’Economie Mondiale of Sciences Po in Paris, the International Food & Agricultural Trade Policy Council (IPC) in Washington, and the Chicago Council of Foreign Relations.

Current areas of research at GMF include Agriculture, Trade, DevelopmentAid for Trade, Biofuels, Regulatory Cooperation, Policy Coherence, Migration, and our signature projects, the Trade and Poverty Forum and Perspectives on Trade and Poverty Reduction, our annual survey of public opinion on trade and development issues.

GMF also convenes high-level dialogues across diverse stakeholders to facilitate progress in multilateral trade talks and domestic policy reform.  Strengthened political will and new coalitions are needed to fulfill the development promise of the WTO Doha Round and the UN Millennium Development Goals.
