On April 27, 2015, The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) hosted Latvian Undersecretary of State - Political Director Eduards Stiprais. This high-level, expert discussion was moderated by GMF Transatlantic Academy Fellow and former Director-General of Enlargement at the European Commission Sir Michael Leigh. Over four months into its EU Council Presidency, the focus of the conversation explored Latvia’s leadership role in EU policy and the EU’s engagement in its Eastern Neighborhood, particularly in the face of the challenges posed by Russia in Ukraine. With his extensive career, Undersecretary Stiprais shared his insights and expertise, exploring these and related topics during this informative, off-the-record discussion.
