New Challenges and Opportunities in Transatlantic Relations Breakfast
On Friday, January 29, 2016, GMF President Karen Donfried spoke at a Breakfast Backgrounder on New Challenges and Opportunities in Transatlantic Relations for an exclusive selection of representatives from Berlin's venture capital and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The discussion revolved around the current state of transatlantic relations and focused on similarities and differences with regard to innovation and regulation in the digital sphere. Policy areas such as immigration, national security, and trade should be juxtaposed with the opportunities and risks of modern technologies. The participants highlighted the importance of grassroots efforts as well as prioritization on the political level in order to harness the enormous potential in the age of digitization. The expert participants also discussed concrete examples of closer cooperation and measures both sides of the Atlantic can implement to foster technological development.
