- Karen Donfried, President, The German Marshall Fund of the United States
- Olaf Scholz, Vice Chancellor and Minister of Finance, Germany
The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) is pleased to invite you to a conversation with German Vice Chancellor and Minister of Finance Olaf Scholz. A few weeks after the formation of the new German government and nearly seven months after the elections, this event marks the first public speaking engagement of a member of the new German government in Washington, DC.
At a challenging time for Europe and the transatlantic relationship, the new government in Berlin is facing many immediate questions, from the response to French reform proposals for the European Union to the reaction to U.S. steel tariffs. Vice Chancellor Scholz will deliver remarks outlining the priorities of the new German government before engaging in a conversation with GMF’s President Karen Donfried and answering questions from the audience.
