Post-Crisis Global Challenges Event Series: Between Collapse and Recovery – Challenges to the Global Financial System
On October 21, GMF launched a Post-Crisis Global Challenges Event Series in Brussels. The launch of the series "Between Collapse and Recovery -- Challenges to the Global Financial System" marks the first of a series of four events dedicated to the promotion of a broader understanding of key global challenges arising from the global financial crisis, organized with the generous support of the U.S. Mission to the EU.
The lunch discussion featured GMF Transatlantic Fellow Kati Suominen giving a presentation on the origins of the financial crisis and the its implications for the future of economic globalization. Commentators Peter Chase from the U.S. Mission to the EU and Fredrik Erixon from the European Centre for International Political Economy (ECIPE) provided their complementary views on how global finance and trade are expected to evolve in the post-crisis world.
The event was concluded by a discussion between the very engaged audience and the three panelists, moderated by GMF's Senior Program Officer Joe Guinan.
