Uneasy Allies: The Future of U.S.-Turkey Relations
- Dr. Amanda Sloat, Fellow, Democracy in Hard Places Initiative
- Özgür Ünlühisarcıklı, Director, GMF's Ankara, Turkey Office
- Jonathan D. Katz, Resident Fellow, GMF
The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) invites you to a roundtable conversation with Amanda Sloat, fellow at the Democracy in Hard Places Initiative and former deputy assistant secretary for Southern Europe and Eastern Mediterranean Affairs, and Özgür Ünlühisarcıklı, GMF’s Ankara office director, to discuss the current state of politics in Turkey and the future of U.S.–Turkish cooperation.
The on-the-record discussion will be moderated by GMF Resident Fellow Jonathan D. Katz and will aim to identify shared strategic goals that call for stronger bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two NATO allies: from the fight against the self-proclaimed Islamic State in Syria and other security challenges in the Middle East to a strengthened posture of NATO in the face of Russian aggression.
