As a part of its Future of American Power series, The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) invites you to participate in a conversation with Jeffrey Engel, author of the upcoming book When the World Seemed New: George H. W. Bush and the End of the Cold War (2017). From the invasion of Kuwait by Saddam Hussein to the unification of Germany and the strengthening of NATO, Engel provides an account of a George H.W. Bush Presidency that guided the nation through a pivotal era in American and world history. Engel will be joined by Christopher Preble of the Cato Institute. GMF Executive Vice President Derek Chollet will moderate the discussion.
GMF’s Future of American Power series discusses new books focusing on U.S. power in the world. In line with its mission to strengthen transatlantic relations, these conversations specifically focus on the implications of U.S. foreign policy for its European partners, as well as other key regions for the transatlantic relationship.
