Ivan Krastev


Ivan Krastev is a political scientist and the chairman of the Center for Liberal Strategies in Sofia. He is also a fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna. Mr. Krastev is a trustee of the European Council on Foreign Relations; council member of the International Institute for Security Studies IISS – London; member of the advisory board of the Open Society Institute in Budapest and New York; and member of the European regional advisory group of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He was previously the executive director of the International Commission on the Balkans, initiated by the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the German Marshall Fund of the United States, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the King Baudouin Foundation, and chaired by former Italian Premier Minister Giuliano Amato.
