Joe Guinan
Joe Guinan is a Resident Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, where he works on international trade, global agriculture, and food security. He is a frequent commentator on international economics and trade policy issues in major news media, including the New York Times, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, BBC News, and al-Jazeera. Mr. Guinan is also a Senior Policy Analyst at the Environmental Working Group and serves as an advisor to the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation’s Global Development Program. In addition, Mr. Guinan is a member of the steering committee of the Foundation Working Group on Food and Agriculture Policy and has served on the steering committee of the Global Trade and Financial Architecture Program of the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) and the review committee for the U.S. Department of State’s Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program.
Prior to joining the German Marshall Fund, Mr. Guinan was a researcher at the Department of Government and Politics at the University of Maryland, College Park, and at the National Center for Economic and Security Alternatives in Washington D.C., where he researched political-economic systems. Mr. Guinan was educated at Balliol College, Oxford. He lives in Washington, D.C.
