Ryo Sahashi


Ryo Sahashi is a resident fellow based in both Washington and Brussels over 2010-2011 under the Tokyo Foundation-German Marshall Fund fellowship program. He is currently Associate Professor of International Politics in the Faculty of Law at Kanagawa University, and also serves as a Research Fellow, Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE) and as a Senior Research Fellow, Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF). He received his Ph.D. (cum laude), from the Faculty of Law, University of Tokyo and received his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from the International Christian University after studying at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His doctoral dissertation was on American foreign policy towards China and Taiwan during the Cold War. His research focus during his tenure with GMF will be on regional security architecture in the Asia-Pacific.
