Invitation to Apply

The German Marshall Fund encourages and accepts applications for the Marshall Memorial Fellowship from emerging leaders who are citizens and permanent residents of the following countries:

Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Moldova, Macedonia, Malta, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States

In the United States, selection committees meet in 13 regions and a national committee selects candidates from the rest of the country.  In Europe, selection committees meet in 24 countries, and a supranational committee selects candidates from an additional 15 countries.  Please see below for more information on the selection process in the United States and in Europe, including contact information for the various selection partners.

The selection process for the 2013 class of Marshall Memorial Fellows has begun.  Please see below for more information about this process including contact information for selection partners. Selected fellows  will travel with one of the following groups in 2013:
European MMFs: Spring: March 4-27; Summer: June 10 - July 3; Fall: September 30 - October 23
American MMFs: Spring: March 7-31; Summer: June 13 - July 7; Fall: October 3 - 27
Please note that dates may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.

U.S.  Selection Partners  

Candidates in Alaska, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Michigan (Detroit), Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio (Cleveland), Oregon, Tennessee (Chattanooga), Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming should be nominated through the selection partner located in their city or state as listed below.  Candidates' applications will also be processed through the selection partner referenced below.

Candidates from all other U.S. cities and states be nominated through the German Marshall Fund office in Washington, DC.  The nomination deadline is June 1, 2012.
