New-Med is a Track II initiative supported by GMF. It promotes unofficial dialogue and problem-solving activities focused on promoting peace and security from a regional, non-Eurocentric perspective. It is aimed at building relationships and encouraging new thinking that can inform GMF’s work on the Mediterranean region.
Launched in 2014, New-Med is the result of a public-private partnership between the GMF, the OSCE, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, the International Affairs Institute and the Compagnia San Paolo. New-Med is run by IAI, which also chairs the Steering Committee, in which the above-mentioned partners are represented.
The New-Med runs workshops and releases articles and reports with an analysis and recommendations on key issues including migration, intercultural dialogue and security.
