On Friday September 30, General Ben Hodges, commander of the U.S. forces in Europe announced in Warsaw that in the case of an attack from the east the American military will come to rescue within five days. Until the end of April 2017 there will be an American battalion deployed in Poland in the military base of Orzysz. It will consist of 800 U.S. Army soldiers, who will be guarding the so called Suwalki Gap - the point where Russians could potentially cut off the Baltic states from the rest of NATO.
