Alissa Akins is a program coordinator with the Urban and Regional Policy Program. At GMF, Alissa contributes to several initiatives – the Cities in Transition, the Dialogues for Change (D4C), the METROS initiative, and the Bilbao Urban Innovation and Leadership Dialouges. Specifically, she has led the development of innovative civic engagement practices for the D4C initiative, including creating content for workshops, policy research, network management, and trip preparations. Alissa brings her knowledge of urban planning, experience as a community facilitator, and experience developing content and leading workshops to the urban program's work. Alissa holds a Bachelor of Arts Honors degree in International Development Studies from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.
