Laura Basagni is program coordinator at The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) based in Brussels. She is responsible for coordinating GMF’s portfolio on the wider Atlantic, focusing on EU and U.S. relations with Africa and Latin America on maritime affairs, trade, and security and defense. She leads the organization of GMF’s Atlantic Strategy Group meetings. In addition, she contributes to the programming of the Mediterranean Policy Program, particularly on NATO strategy south. Her research interests are north-south cooperation, European external action, and the future of governance.
Laura joined GMF as a trainee in 2016, working on Mediterranean politics and European security. She studied at LUISS Guido Carli and the London of School of Economics and Political Science (LSE.) She holds a BA in international relations, an MSc in comparative politics, and a postgraduate degree in European project management.
