Ryan Meilak is a European Parliament senior communications official and currently a Resident European Parliament Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States in Washington, DC and a Visiting Fellow at the Schar School of Public Policy and Government at George Mason University in Arlington, Virginia. From 2016 to 2019 Ryan served as Head of Public Diplomacy and Communications at the European Parliament Liaison Office in Washington, DC. In Europe he worked in the field of stakeholder relations and public outreach within the European Parliament's Directorate-General for Communications in Brussels, Belgium. Prior to joining the European Parliament, Ryan worked for the Council of the European Union and the European Commission.
During 2019 Ryan was chief organizer of the European Elections campaign in the United States, aimed at mobilizing over two million EU citizens living in the United States and holding the right to vote in the European Parliament elections.
His fields of expertise include communications and outreach, European Union politics, EU institutions, transatlantic relations, parliamentary diplomacy, and stakeholder relations.
Ryan holds an M.A. in diplomatic studies from the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies at the University of Malta.
