About GMF Programs & Projects
GMF’s programs and projects give a sense of GMF’s organizational structure, including how GMF divides its work on transatlantic issues and regions into an operational configuration.
  • Policy Programs

GMF’s Policy Programs divide the work GMF does into specific issue areas so that each can be directed by a core set of issue-expert staff and fellows across convening, research, networking, and grantmaking.

  • Opinion Research

GMF conducts annual surveys of public opinion in an effort to gauge the transatlantic relationship and transatlantic feeling on an array of foreign and domestic issues.  The survey results are often used by a diverse group of stakeholders including policymakers, academics, and journalists.

  • Grantmaking Programs

Grantmaking is one of GMF’s core missions, and through these programs, GMF supports a wide range of institutions and individuals working on transatlantic policy issues.  GMF awards grants primarily through six major grantmaking programs — the Balkan Trust for Democracy, the Black Sea Trust, Economics, Germany-related, Immigration, and Strategic.

  • Fellowship Programs

GMF works closely with partner organizations to sponsor a range of fellowship and exchange programs designed to provide broad cultural exposure and more targeted opportunities for learning about specialized policy areas.

  • Signature Conferences

GMF convenes annually a number of signature conferences that bring together a wide range of institutions and individuals working on transatlantic policy issues from North America, Europe, and the rest of the world to address transatlantic and global challenges.
