Guido Goldman Directorship
Without the foresight and determination of Dr. Guido Goldman, GMF simply would not exist. He was instrumental in developing the concept of the German Marshall Fund with the German government in the early 1970s. Goldman chose the organization’s first Board members and initially served as acting president. He has seen GMF through many evolutions over the years, serving on the Board of Directors until his recent retirement in May 2012.
Like the organization itself, Guido has been instrumental in creating a network of relationships among present and future transatlantic leaders. To honor Guido’s profound contributions to GMF and the greater transatlantic network, GMF is creating the Guido Goldman Directorship of the Marshall Memorial Fellowship program. The Marshall Memorial Fellowship (MMF) program provides emerging leaders a unique opportunity to explore politics, business, innovation and culture across the Atlantic through experiential learning. Thirty years after the founding of MMF, nearly 2,500 alumni from more than 30 countries have completed the program.
A contribution to the Directorship will ensure that Guido’s legacy of fostering transatlantic cooperation be forever remembered.
