European Union. Between permanent crisis and "quiet superpower"
On September 21, 2015 Daniela Schwarzer took part in a panel discussion on „The European Union: Between ongoing crisis and silent superpower“ in Berlin, organized by the Max Weber Foundation. Together with Christian Tomuschat (Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities), Martin Baumeister (German Historical Institute Rome) and Miloš Řezník (German Historical Institute Warsaw) she discussed how the European Union and its member states perceive and deal with ongoing crises like the economic and financial crisis, the refugee crisis or the Ukraine crisis. Schwarzer elaborates on how EU solidarity, internal cohesion and resilience are being challenged by processes of European and domestic disintegration and outlines risks and chances of differentiated integration.
