As India Bolsters US Ties, It Must Also Strive to Maintain Leverage

The inaugural India-U.S. "2+2" dialogue, which was to take place on July 6, was postponed for the second time with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo calling up his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj to inform her about the cancellation. Instead, Pompeo will travel to North Korea between July 5-7 to build on the high-stake summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un. Media reports seem to suggest that the scheduling problem is a sign that India is not in the highest priority of the Trump administration, something that former Indian ambassador to the United States, Arun Singh agrees with.
