Ivan Vejvoda Testifies- Committee on Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia and Emerging Threats Hearing: Progress and Challenges in the Western Balkans

April 29, 2015

Ivan Vejvoda

On April 29, GMF's Ivan Vejvoda, senior vice president of programs, testified before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats. The hearing, entitled “Progress and Challenges in the Western Balkans,” was the first hearing on the region in two years. Speaking on the first panel were Hoyt Brian Yee of the State Department and Susan Fritz of USAID. Joining Vejvoda on the second panel was Joseph DioGuardi of the Albanian American Civic League. Vejvoda's testimony highlighted the progress that the region has made in the last 20 years and opportunities for further development. He also expressed encouragement for NATO enlargement to Montenegro, stating that “Such a decision would further strengthen stability, security and peace in the region.” Vejvoda was also questioned by Chairman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) and Ranking Member Gregory Meeks (D-NY).
