What Will Happen to NATO in the Time of the Trump Presidency?

April 12, 2017

Martin Quencez

Fellow and Deputy Director, Paris Office

Martin Quencez joins RFI's Debat du Jour , to discuss the future of NATO in the times of the Trump presidency. Quencez argued that while President Trump has been accused of lacking consistency in his foreign policy, Europeans should take him seriously on the issue of defense spending. The U.S. president seems to be particularly resolute to push his partners to assume a bigger share of the security burden. He continued to discuss the potential tensions that could emerge among allies if the issue of counterterrorism becomes the new strategic priority of the Alliance.
