EU–U.S. Trade and the Future of the WTO: a Conversation with Commissioner Malmström

November 13, 2018 | 4:30PM to 5:30PM EST
Washington, DC

On behalf of The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) and the Delegation of the European Union to the United States, we are delighted to invite you to a conversation with EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström. It will take place at GMF's office at 1744 R Street NW on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 4:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m. The event will be on the record. Invitees include U.S. government officials, European policymakers, think tankers, academics, and journalists. The event will be moderated by GMF senior non-resident fellow Rod Hunter, partner at Baker McKenzie.

In the context of ongoing trade talks between the United States and EU, and China’s rise as an economic power, the conversation will look at the EU’s role in advancing reform at the WTO, the shared transatlantic agenda in dealing with the non-market-oriented policies and practices of third countries, and the prospects for transatlantic trade.

If you have any questions, please contact Asia program assistant Ben Rimland at +1 202 683 2667 or [email protected]
