Film Screening and Discussion: War 2020 — The Role of Disinformation and Propaganda in Society

December 14, 2015 | 6:00PM to 9:00PM CET
Brussels

Disinformation and propaganda are some of the main tools used in modern crises and warfare. The role of information management and communication in hybrid warfare is the central theme of the premiere screening of the documentary “WAR 2020. Russia’s information aggression” by Lithuanian filmmakers Martynas Starkus and Jonas Banys. It reviews the goals and methods of the Kremlin’s global propaganda machine. Narrated by Russian specialists who at some point had been personally involved in planning and carrying out assaults on media abroad, the film analyzes the inner mechanics and editorial policies of legal and covert Russian media outlets operating in Europe and the United States. View the trailer here. The 45-minute film screening will be followed by a panel discussion. We hope you will join us for a lively discussion on this very pressing issue.
