Losing the Long Game: The False Promise of Regime Change in the Middle East

November 19, 2020 | 10:30AM to 11:30AM EST

A Book Talk with Dr. Philip Gordon

Speaker

  • Dr. Philip H. Gordon, Mary and David Boies Senior Fellow in U.S. Foreign Policy Council on Foreign Relations

Moderator

  • Karen Donfried, President, The German Marshall Fund of the United States

The German Marshall Fund of the United States is pleased to invite you to a discussion with international relations scholar and former senior Obama administration official, Dr. Philip Gordon. His book Losing the Long Game: The False Promise of Regime Change in the Middle East scrutinizes seventy years of U.S. policy in the region and questions misguided assumptions. Together with GMF President Karen Donfried, Gordon will discuss why a Middle East policy based on engagement, diplomacy, investment, and deterrence can produce better outcomes than seeking to remove and replace even hostile regimes.

You can support independent book sellers in the U.S. by purchasing a copy of Losing the Long Game at bookshop.org.

If you have any questions, please contact Itai Barsade at IBarsade@gmfus.org.
