Promoting the Role of Women in Peace and Security in the MENA Region
On October 23, Charlotte Brandsma chaired the opening session of the New Med conference on Women, Peace and Security in the MENA region in Palermo. The meeting brought together senior officials from North Africa and OSCE countries to discuss the interim results of an upcoming New Med study on the implementation of UNSCR 1325 in the MENA region.
The meeting is part of an ongoing series to promote unofficial dialogue and problem-solving activities focused on promoting peace and security from a regional, non-Eurocentric perspective. It is aimed at building relationships and encouraging new thinking that can inform GMF’s work on the Mediterranean region.
