On both sides of the Atlantic, recent elections and referenda reflect a groundswell of populist sentiment, highlighting public dissatisfaction with the status quo, rejection of the establishment, and a desire to “take back control.”
The Transatlantic Dialogues report, released by the Pew Research Center on November 7, 2017, examines these trends to shed light on public perceptions of the state of democracy and governance in the West. In particular, it compares the different attitudes of transatlantic experts and general publics in North America and Europe with regards to these issues. To discuss the report findings, The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) welcomes you to an on-the-record conversation with Associate Director of Research at Pew Research Center Katie Simmons, Kristen Soltis Anderson, Co-Founder of Echelon Insights, and Alex Conant, partner at Firehouse Strategies and former communications director for Marco Rubio's presidential campaign. The discussion will be moderated by GMF Senior Fellow and Director of the Future of Geopolitics and Asia programs Jamie Fly.
