Steven Keil is a fellow in GMF’s Washington office. His work focuses on transatlantic security, with an emphasis on the U.S., Russia, Germany, and NATO. Prior to joining GMF, Keil was a Robert Bosch Fellow at the CDU/CSU Foreign Policy Working Group in the German Bundestag, as well as in the Eastern European and Eurasian research division at the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik. Keil also previously worked in the United States Senate for U.S. Senator John Thune (R-SD).

Keil received his bachelor’s from the University of South Dakota in political science, German, and history and holds a master’s degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service BMW Center of German and European Studies. He speaks German and basic Russian.
