Transatlantic Cities Forum Philadelphia: Creative Strategies and Recommendations for the Reuse of Industrial Infrastructure
Transatlantic Cities Forum: Re-Envisioning Philadelphia’s Industrial Spaces was hosted by The German Marshall Fund of the United States in collaboration with the Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation at Drexel University and with the support of the William Penn Foundation. Through a series of visioning exercises, this workshop promoted the exchange of knowledge and expertise on the adaptive reuse of the city’s industrial spaces. The workshop took place in Philadelphia, PA, on February 26-27, 2015.
The following white paper explains the format and the creative process of the workshop, the workshop participants, and the outcomes of the deliberation. It explains how the reuse of the city’s industrial spaces can boost the city in economic, environmental, and social terms. This paper also explains how these outcomes will be used in Philadelphia as it heads toward its next mayoral election.
