-Ms. Donfried, are we facing the end of the transatlantic partnership?

Controversies have been always there. Think of the Suez crisis, the dispute over the deployment of the middle-range missiles on German territory, and the Iraq War. Yet, this time the situation is completely different. It’s not about specific decisions made by the U.S. government. The problem is more fundamental: President Trump is opposed to the international order that Americans and Europeans have created together – liberal democracy, the free-market economy, rule of law, and multilateralism. That's why this moment now is so worrying.
